We all know doing some physical movement is essential to our overall health. However, many people need help finding what type of movement works for them. I know there is a lot of media pushing to get people into the gym and only the gym, but I don’t believe that method works.
While resistance training is vital for your bones, joints, muscles, and ligaments, easing people into being comfortable in the gym is where we need to start. What are Tiny Habits?
Tiny Habits was created by Dr. BJ Fogg in 2011. Tiny Habits takes you through the process of learning skillsets to help cultivate new behaviors and make unwanted habits harder to do. This is done by ensuring the behavior is Tiny enough to be done in 30 seconds or less, at least once a day, and requires little to no effort. All this is done by creating what BJ calls recipes.
How does Mosley Coaching implement Tiny Habits into our coaching style?
While motivation can be beneficial in getting you started. It is unreliable when it comes to keeping you going. We take the Tiny Habits method approach, helping people feel successful. So how do we do that? By starting as Tiny as possible. We won’t throw you right into trenches and expect you to be able to do a million things at once. Instead, we ease you into forming the habits you need to create the life you want. How tiny is tiny? Let’s say you want to start walking for 10 minutes a day after you get home from work, but each time you want to the motivation isn’t there. That’s okay. We can get you there, we just need to start tiny first. So instead of trying to walk for 10 minutes, let’s try putting on our walking shoes and that’s it. Putting on your walking shoes is much easier than walking for 10 minutes. Simplicity is key. The easier it is to do the habit the less you need to rely on motivation and the more likely you are to do it. The harder it is to do the habit the more motivation you’ll need to perform it and the less likely you will. We believe to create the changes you want, we need to keep things as simple as possible so the habit becomes automatic.
